Backend and API development
Python backend development for your application
Have a frontend, a product idea or a system that needs work? I build APIs, databases and application logic. I can create a new backend or take on a defined part of an existing system.
Let’s talk about your backendThe backend that puts your application to work
The backend handles data, accounts, permissions and business rules. It connects your application to other services, processes background jobs and exposes functionality through APIs.
I work mainly in Python. A project can cover a first product version, a specific integration or improvements to a module that has become difficult to change.
When can I help?
A useful starting point is a specific situation you want to change.
-
Your frontend needs a working API
The screens are ready, but accounts, data storage and application rules still need implementing.
-
New features break other parts of the system
Missing tests and scattered logic make the effects of changes difficult to predict.
-
Long tasks keep users waiting
Imports, reports and connections to other services need background processing.
-
Deployments are hard to repeat
Manual steps and missing error information make the application difficult to maintain.
What can I build for you?
We choose the parts your project needs and include them in the quote.
-
APIs and application logic
Operations for your frontend, input validation and clear error handling.
-
Databases and migrations
A data model and a controlled way to make changes to its structure.
-
Accounts and permissions
Authentication and access rules based on user roles.
-
Testing and deployment preparation
Checks for key scenarios, logging and an agreed launch process.
Is this the right step for your business?
We consider the problem, the cost of solving it and what your current tools can do.
Let’s talk if:
- you’re building a product and need a backend developer,
- you have a specific module or integration to deliver,
- you want better tests and maintainability for an existing system.
A different first step may be enough if:
- a small change to the current code would solve the problem,
- an existing service provides all the features you need,
- the current limitations don’t justify a full rewrite.
A conversation first. Then a clear plan.
Before work begins, we agree on what I’ll build, what it will cost and how we’ll check that it does what you need.
-
Show me the problem
Tell me how you work and what takes up your time. I’ll ask about your tools, data and the result you need.
-
Review the proposal
I set out the scope, quote and stages, including third-party running costs and anything we still need to check.
-
Try it as it takes shape
I show you working parts of the solution. We test agreed examples and gather feedback from the people who will use it.
-
Put it to work
I launch the system, show you how to use it and hand over the agreed documentation. We then discuss any next steps.
What do we agree on before starting?
Before work begins, we define the backend’s responsibilities, API contract and collaboration with the frontend. Existing projects also need a review of the code and environment.
Tests cover the most important rules and service connections. We plan data access, migrations and backups to suit the application.
Code and documentation should make further work easier. We agree on project handover, environment access and support after deployment.
What does your backend need?
Describe the product, technologies and task you need help with. If you have API documentation or a repository, just mention that they’re available for now.
